Hunt Report: 2012 Colorado Mule Deer w/ Rifle #4

We talked Sam Soholt from the Gannett Ridge crew into taking Rifle #4 on his Colorado Mule Deer hunt.  Sam wanted to try out one of the Minox scopes from their store so we got it mounted up and spent a morning at the range.  The Minox glass was impressive.  We were using the ZA5 2-10x40 model with the BDC reticle.  I had matched up the reticle with the .300 Win Mag and 180 Accubond's ballistics the previous night, and had found that if we set it to impact 1" high at 100 yards, the reticle could be used effectively at 300 and 400 yards.  In no time, Sam was smacking a steel plate that is set at 350 yards at our range and was confident in the setup for his hunt.

#4 and #9 at the range
We didn't get much of the story on his hunt, so I will just let the pictures speak for themselves.   Sam's photography skills would be a great asset on any hunt.  This buck is the 12th kill for this rifle since it's rebuild - after 8 in Africa, 3 Antelope in Wyoming.
#4 and Sam's nice 4pt Mulie.

Happy man, awesome buck, and a sweet rifle.
