Build #7 - .264 Win Mag on a Remington 700 - Long Range Hunter

Sawtooth Rifles - Build #7:  .264 Win Mag Long Range Hunter

This rifles was built as a demo rifle from a donor we had on hand, and some budget minded components we wanted to test out.  It was built as a long range hunter with what is essentially a light weight varmint profile barrel.  It is heavy for a hunting rifle but the trade off is a rifle/optic combination that will not be a limiting factor for a long range shot (with enough practice of course). Think Wyoming open country and Pronghorns, that is what inspired it.

The rifle seemed to like a load that we had developed for another .264, using the 140 gr SST Hornady over a pile of IMR 7828 SSC.  Accuracy was good, repetitive .25MOA groups, but it may have been a little hot.  We saw some pressure signs.  With some more time we will try to reduce the pressure and maintain the accuracy.  In the meantime, it is Antelope season!
